Shelley Perkoulidis Clinical Psychologist MAPS

(BSc.Psych; PGDip.Psych; MA.Couns.Psych; MA.Art.Th)

Shelley is registered as a Psychologist with the Psychologist Board of Australia (PBA), part of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with a specialist endorsement in Clinical Psychology and is a registered provider with Medicare as a Clinical Psychologist

She holds for following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology
  • Masters of Counselling Psychology
  • Masters of Mental Health in Art Therapy
She holds the following professional memberships:
  • Member of the Australian Psychological Society
  • Member of the Australian Psychological Society’s College of Clinical Psychologists
  • Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society’s College of Counselling Psychologists
  • Eligible for Professional Membership of the Australian and New Zealand Arts Therapy Association
  • Accredited Supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia

Shelley coordinates and provides services at Sunshine Coast Children's Psychology Clinic, and specialises in parent- infant, child, adolescent and family psychotherapy, with particular interest in the use of Art Therapy and Play Therapy within evidence informed practice.

She has worked full time for over a decade within non-government and government specialist counselling services for children and adolescents, including counselling services for child abuse and neglect, adolescent substance misuse, family therapy, and child and youth mental health services. 

She values evidence based practice, and is experienced and well trained in therapeutic interventions such as Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Shelley values tailoring interventions to meet the needs of individuals coming to her seeking assistance and values contributing to the evidence via her own writing and practice based research. She has had writings published in professional journals and published a book chapter in the area of creative therapies with children and adolescents.

Shelley lives in Noosa with her husband, young adult children, and family dog.

Visiting Practitioners

At Sunshine Coast Children's Psychology we value working with other professionals and providing a variety of services to children and families on the Sunshine Coast. At times Shelley will invite visiting practitioners into the clinic to add to or support the services being provided.

All our visiting professionals are well known to Shelley, and experienced in the assessment and provision of psychological care with children, adolescents and families. Visiting professionals will be from variety of professional disciplines and with specific areas of expertise. 

We will discuss visiting staff/programs with you should this be clinically indicated, but feel free to ask Shelley about current visiting staff or programs if you are interested.
